Having a bad teacher can be severely detrimental to a kid’s social, emotional, and academic growth. So, no wonder most parents despise it profoundly and justifiably.
Thankfully, there are certain red flags to observe in order to determine whether your child’s teacher is having a bad influence on him/her or not.
If your child showed interest in all the books s/he was reading or was acing his/her school homework last year, but now his/her attitude towards school has taken a drastic turn for the gloomy, his/her teacher may well be the result of this crankiness. Be on the lookout for this
The teaching process has 2 sides: teaching and practice. Some teachers (or tutors) may choose the lazy option among the two – practice – to showcase the world that they are working their socks off. This can really help the learning process to a certain degree but let’s be frank; this is hardly something you are paying for!
Your child may think of himself/herself as “stupid” or “dumb,” or may also portray signs of being overly anxious about his/her homework.
Always be on the lookout for the blame game. One or two negative messages are fine, but if they come consistently on a regular basis, it should ring a bell for sure.
This is where bad teaching becomes worse than having no teaching. Some children may improve under coercion but they are unfortunately the minority.
Most of the kids, especially young teenagers, are more likely to strike back. Their responses should range from not doing any homework to writing wrong answers deliberately
